Hair, skin and nails is the holy trinity of beauty. It doesn't matter what approach you take; whether you want to be natural or all the way glammed out. If you have a makeover plan for your life, focus on these three areas.

Hair

One of my favorite statements to make is, "hair is the substratum of a black woman's identity." And it's definitely a woman's crowning glory. There's nothing more rewarding than embracing your hair, taking care of it and getting satisfying results. That's why we appreciate all the black women who put haircare lines on the market in the vane of Madam C. J. Walker.

Actress Taraji Henson, launched a hair care line with names just as gritty as her on screen roles. Her natural hair co-wash is called, "Hustle and Co."

Skin

Another common saying in the beauty industry is to, "love the skin your in," Celebrity kid Lori Harvey, daughter of Steve Harvey, launched a skincare line. It's an efficient, five step regime that includes a vitamin C serum. Dermatologist and experts say that vitamin C is a primary anti-aging product for black skin.

What's significant about her skincare line is that it represents the cracking of that glass ceiling. Some black women grew up in the suburbs and it was a difficult life. These women were encourage to be smart and make the grade, but every idea was stifled. This created a glass ceiling and put women like this in a box. If you want to crack that glass ceiling, don't just get this skincare and have blue bottles tossed in the drawer....use it consistently...

Nails

Nails can take a lot of abuse especially if you wear acrylic nails constantly. For those time when your nails are natural, nourish them with a good nail strengthener like the one from Lisa:

It doesn't hurt to take a hair, skin and nail vitamin. It's not necessary to break the bank because even when taken marginally, these supplements do work. We like the one's from Puritan Pride for $4.97
