The Color Purple

The Color Purple was back at the Oscars last night. This year it wasn't the movie but actress Angela Bassett's nomination for best dressed. She was nominated for best supporting actress in the movie "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." She definitely won the fashion award in a violet colored Moschino dress and Bulgari drip.

Janelle Monae also looked stunning in Vera Wang. Her mellow neo-soul song "Float" is trap approved.

Side Dish

The Oscars is all about movies. This divanish power bowl is the perfect comfort dish for sitting back and watching a great movie. Just don't forget to follow it with a pint of ice cream.

Divan Style Power Bowl ​

lb ground chicken

1 tsp curry powder 1 6.9 oz box Rice A Roni Chicken (flavor) 1 Tbsp butter 2 cups of water 1/2 cup of white wine 12 oz bag of frozen broccoli florets (thawed and drained) Sharp cheddar cheese

(2 scrambled eggs optional) ​

Directions: ​ 1. Cook and crumble ground chicken in skillet seasoning with the curry powder. When chicken is done, set aside. 2. Heat butter in skillet and brown the rice until golden and toasted. ​ 3. Slowly add 2 cups of water and 1/2 cup of white wine. Allow rice to simmer for 10-15 mintues. ​ 4. Right before rice is finished, add drained broccoli. Cook for five additional minutes. ​ 5. Stir in ground chicken. Stir in scrambled eggs if desired. Serve hot topped with shredded cheddar cheese.
