In 2023, hip hop turned 50 years old. This means the "old skools and OG's" are really getting old .... (older but better) Trap music is the future of hip/hop ... we believe in trappers like Tyga and Meek Mill - just saying ...
However, looking back on what hip/hop did for the culture, here are the top 8 female owned hip/hop brands of all time:
Baby Phat. Even at a discounted price, if you got your hands on anything BabyPhat, you WIN! Founded in 1999 by runway model Kimora Lee-Simmons, Baby Phat was an offshoot of the Phat Farm brand ran by her then hip/hop mogul husband, Russel Simmons. BabyPhat keeps coming back again with a recent colab with Forever 21. When the next line launches, we will all be waiting.
2. Foxy Brown Furs. In the early 2000's Brooklyn based girl rapper Foxy Brown collaborated with Alexis & Gianni Enterprises and launched a fur line. The reason why we wanted one was because it was rap music that taught some of us what a chinchilla was.
3. House of Dereon. When the Destiny's Child girl group trio lead singer and solo pop-star phenomenon Beyonce married hip/hop godfather Jay-z, she was coined the baddest "B" in the game. She's definitely one of the best dressed and we all loved the fleur de lis emblazoned street gear of "House of Dereon" which she founded in 2006. Later in 2016, she launched her current clothing line "Ivy Park".

4. Fetish. 1999 Ruff Ryders girl rapper Eve put in a real hip/hop grind. She became a household name not only for rapping, but also for her street style clothing line, Fetish. She ended her clothing line in 2009 but we still remember those wonderful velour track suits.

5. Royalty. In 2004, Queen B rapper Lil Kim launched a line blinged out watches. Lil Kim has always been diamond status and still is.... can you say, "Stunt 101" and "Flick of the Wrist."
6. Apple Bottoms. Denim for black women with forbidden fruit themes. St. Louis rapper Nelly understands. In 2003 he launched Apple Bottom jeans that had a sexy comfortable fit for sisters who have all that "junk in the trunk."
7. Pastry. Daughters of Reverend Run of Run DMC know hip/hop style. In 2007, they launched Pastry which was spoke to the girl next door without compromising what hip/hop stands for.
8. Pink Diamond Couture. Last but not least, in 2008, Miami diamond princess rapper Trina launched a clothing and fragrance line called Pink Diamond Couture. She has always proven to be one of the most underrated female rappers in the game.
