Okra

This mainland okra recipe proves that all is not lost in progress. This side dish is so delicious. It especially brings out the flavor in beef dishes such as oxtails. Serve with a starch like macaroni and cheese and some cornbread and you have a great meal.

One bag of regular cut okra

One bag of breaded cut okra

One small onion chopped

¼ Cup vegetable oil

2 Teaspoons of garlic salt

salt and pepper to taste

 Directions:

​

 1. Pour oil into a skillet over medium-high heat.

​

2. Add chopped onion and sauté  for 2-3 minutes.

​

3. Add both bags of okra and garlic salt and salt and pepper. Mix together with a spoon.

​

5. Put lid on the skillet and cook  for around 30 + minutes stirring occasionally until the okra seeds begin burst and the breading bakes crispy.

Use 2 bags of breaded okra if you want extra breading.
