Products for Relaxed Hair

Good advice is go to a salon for your relaxers, however, relaxers are on the store shelves and some relax their own hair. You want a relaxer that's right for your porosity, not the thickness. Low porosity hair likes no-lye relaxers while high porosity hair likes lye based relaxers. But the one thing that you should have if you self relax is backup neutralizing shampoo. Sometimes the store bought relaxer kits don't come with enough neutralizing shampoo and some lye relaxers don't come with any at all. Neutralizing shampoo is what stops your hair from chemically breaking down on relaxer day. If you don't use neutralizing shampoo, you hair will continue to break down after it is styled and eventually fall out. A bottle of Isoplus neutralizing shampoo is all you need.

In the spirit of being high-maintenance, relaxers are harsh chemicals. A lot of times, the first washday after getting a relaxer, a recovery product is used.
